So if you’re like me, you need that extra push in January to stay motivated and consistent with gym attempts.
Let’s face it – we’re all smashed, it’s only half-way to pay day for most and we’re feeling the affects of eating and drinking everything in site over Christmas.
Well Penney’s literally has answered our prayers when it comes to their new #getfit gym gear. At the end of the day, we need to look good going to the gym even if its as less frequent as we would like.
If you’re broke and need to freshen up your gym wardrobe for January get yourself to Penney’s to check out these latest pieces.
Pants are ranging from €13, tops from €8 and accessories from as little as €3.
The bank balance allowed me to pick up a couple of pieces for an absolute bargain that will be tested tomorrow in the gym. I also grabbed a khaki bomber for €15. A khaki bomber will never go out of fashion and can also compliment the new #getfit gym gear.

So while the Brexit dust has settled ever so slightly, one good news to come from it all is this! Yes you’ll finally be able to renew your passport online. Can I get an Amen?
This means no more queuing at the Irish Passport Office, or spending your lunch break at your local Post Office with your head severely melted. The new online passport is due to come into play in the first quarter of 2017, confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs recently. This has come as a direct knock on from the surge of passport applications from people living outside of Ireland, since the UK decided to jump ship from the EU.
I’ve always said it that ice-cream is one of my go-to-things to ease the pain of a fearful hangover. Well Dublin Soho can confirm that a bar specifically designed for the cure exists – can I get an Amen. Only thing is its based in South Korea; home to the world’s first hangover ice cream bar. Bit of a trek now indeed!
The so called hangover store based in South Korea and named Gyeondyo-bar (hang in there). Yes we love it already. The ice cream that tastes like grapefruit has an active treatment ingredient which is oriental raisin tree fruit juice, used as hangover remedy in Korea since the 1600s.
Us Irish will wait patiently and pray for a local Irish budding entrepreneur to create a similar product. Let’s face it Deliveroo would make a killing helping all us needy Irish on a day where our heads can’t raise from the pillow.
Any Dub will be devastated to hear that John Reynolds has put the Pod up for sale. The Old Harcourt Street Station licensed complex is on sale with a guide price of €6 million. The venue has been lying dormant for some time now. Passing by the venue is always tough for the die hard Pod & Redbox lovers and known as “one of the best” clubs to party in Dublin.
The popular club formerly known as the “Redbox”, was one of the legendary clubs attracting big name DJ’s such as Carl Cox, Deepdish, Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier to name a few. It also had strong residency slots with local talent like David De Valera and the Mongo events in the garden. Who doesn’t remember those gigs?
The A Grade 1 listed building, measuring about 2,625sq m (28,255sq ft) is being sold by tender and bids must be submitted by June 8th.
More recently, the venue was set out as three bars and late night venues: the Chocolate Bar, Crawdaddy and Tripod. These venues closed a number of years ago to much of our disappoint.
Andrew’s Lane another popular venue in Dublin sold for €4M so we think this is an absolute bargain for the Pod site.
Let’s hope the new owner brings back the good old days for Dublin clubbers and resurrects a new style “Redbox”.
Quirky Nights Glamping owner David McGowan is bringing a new twist to Glamping in Sligo. By twist we mean he’s literally bought a “Boeing 767” to refurb and offer glampers an experience sleeping and having fun in.
A Sligo undertaker shares his extraordinary vision with Sorcha Crowley for a transport themed ‘quirky glamping village’ on a 15 acre site in Enniscrone complete with a 29 year old jumbo jet, trains, boats and taxis.
The €3 million park will have an ‘airport’ containing the Russian jet which will accommodate 9 bedrooms, a ‘Bus station’ containing ten double decker Dublin buses, four retired London Underground train carriages, London black taxis and a even a ‘marina’ with boats dry dock for guests to experience a night in.
The Boeing 767 is 159ft long, 17 ft wide and weighs over 70 tonnes has attracted world wide attention and gone viral across social media – his YouTube and Facebook videos have reached in excess of 200,000 views.
Crossmolina-based TV Production company GMarsh TV is filming David’s journey to create the glamping village for a six-part TV documentary to be aired next year.
“I had to convince Sligo County Council that I didn’t need psychiatric help. Now I’m making the concept a reality.”
Dublin Soho loves the idea and thinks this will be a big hit for hen and stags or could appeal to alternative weddings.
