Dust off your disco boots as the good folks from “The Gentlemen’s Academy” are bringing the Disco Brunch to us for some bank holiday madness. Eh yes please!
The event returns to Drury Building’s to be hosted by Dublin’s finest. Anyone who has made it to a brunch knows this is one party not to miss. Tickets for the last disco brunch sold out in just 20 minutes. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 1pm so put it in the diary so you won’t be dissappointed!
See you on the dancefloor.
One of the biggest names in dance music history has announced a very special to collaborate with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
The 52 year old techno DJ who last appeared in Metropolis festival in November is set to raise the roof in Dublin’s Bord Gais energy theatre on October 30th. Mills also known as “The Wizard” has been an iconic member of the Detroit techno scene from the mid 1980’s. He’s had sell-out gigs in Dublin since he first arrived here and became a regular to Dublin’s red box and the twisted pepper.
‘Light From The Outside World’ is a live collaboration between Mills and several orchestras and is essentially a classic rendition of a collection of Mills’ own tracks.
Here’s a slice of what’s in store.
Tickets are €25 (plus booking fee) and go on sale from ticketmaster this Thursday 21st April.
This should be a special one!
Luckily the good promoters of Dublin always ensure that we’re spoiled for choice when a public holiday comes up. They really don’t help our liver though.
Dublin Soho have put together our top 5 gigs happening in the next 24 hours for you to mull over!
- Sven Vath @ Pyg
- Green Velvet @ Button Factory
- Todd Terry @ The Grand Social
- Disco Brunch @ Drury Buildings
- Julio Bashmore @ Opium Rooms
1. Sven Vath @ Pyg
Pappa Sven returns to a sold out gig in Pyg for it’s 7th Birthday TONIGHT. What better way to celebrate a birthday than bringing these two deadly German’s to Pyg. If you haven’t got a ticket I’m sure you’ll be devastated to miss this one. Along with Sven comes Matthias Tanzmann who takes over room 2. This one is sure to get messy!
Tickets: Sold out 😦
2. Green Velvet @ Button Factory
Green Velvet plays tonight at the Sense & Curve night at the Button Factory and promises to be doing what he does best. Local talent Dan Stritch is also on support. Tickets can still be purchased at the door but get there early to avoid disappointment.
Tickets: €25 + booking fee
3. Toddy Terry @ The Grand Social
Brooklyn born House DJ Terry returns to Dublin after a very long stint away (Where have you been on our lives). The Network crew have put a very decent lineup together with big support and warm up duties from dj’s Liam Dollard, The Chillage Idiots and Jay Carroll.
Tickets: €20 on the door
4. Disco Brunch @ Drury Buildings
The Disco Brunch has become ridiculously popular in the last two years. We love our brunch but we love it more with disco beats from the disco brunch guys in the background. Trust me! There’s nothing tame about this one. That’s why it’s our top 4. And the food is delish too. Tickets are sold out for the brunch affair but you can gain entry at 5pm for a fiver for plenty of dancing and mischief.
5. Julio Bashmore @ Opium Rooms
Julio may have appeared to burst on to the scene in late 2009, but the lead up to the Julio Bashmore EP for Claude VonStroke’s highly influential Dirtybird label was essentially a lifetime in the making. He returns to Opium rooms tonight and is sure its a Paddy’s eve you won’t forget! Support on the night from Boots & Kats.
Bashmore Tickets €20 + booking fee
