As part of the commemoration to the 1916 Rising An Post have painted 1o post boxes around Dublin. The post boxes are located around key landmarks in the city and offer free video links, to educate on stories that occurred in Dublin 100 years ago.
The agency behind this stunt was Target McDonnells. The mission included repainting 10 post boxes in Dublin city and County Royal Mail red as part of an An Post campaign to mark the 1916 Rising centenary.
You can view some of the red post boxes at St Stephens Green, Grafton Street, Liberty Hall, the Four Courts, Royal College of Surgeons, Dun Laoghaire pier, Mount Street, Haddington Road, O’Connell Street and the General Post Office (GPO) itself.
Members of the public are invited to freetext a keyword on their chosen postbox before receiving a video link on their smartphone. It will play short video clip of the events that took place in the exact spot in which they stand. The viewer is left with a question at the end of the video relating to the story they have just witnessed.
